Why reading habits are important for children

Never underestimate the habit of reading, especially when inculcated in the young. It stimulates imagination, creates discipline and builds confidence in the reader. Not to mention the wealth of other benefits, opening a world beyond what is experienced by the individual.
Like any other habit, good or bad, reading is a habit. A child can only begin with little steps, and a dollop of coaxing and your input in the process - for instance, reading aloud for a few minutes every day to start with.
